Introduction
Cirsia LLC (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates Mermade, a Google Workspace Add-on that enables users to create Mermaid diagrams directly within Google Slides. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use Mermade.
Information We Collect
Minimal Data Collection
Mermade is designed with privacy in mind. We collect minimal information:
- Mermaid Diagram Code: The Mermaid diagram code you write is processed entirely within your browser and Google Slides. This code is never transmitted to our servers.
- Google Account Information: When you install Mermade, Google provides basic account information (email address) necessary for add-on functionality. This information is used solely to provide the service.
- Usage Data: We do not collect, store, or transmit any usage analytics, user behavior data, or personal information beyond what is necessary for the add-on to function.
Google Workspace Permissions
Mermade requests the following Google Workspace permission:
- presentations.currentonly: This permission allows Mermade to access only the Google Slides presentation you are currently editing. We cannot access other presentations, files, or data in your Google account.
How We Use Information
We use the information we collect solely to:
- Provide the Service: Enable you to create and insert Mermaid diagrams into your Google Slides presentations.
- Maintain Functionality: Ensure the add-on works correctly within Google Slides.
- Respond to Support Requests: If you contact us for support, we may use your email address to respond.
Data Storage and Processing
Local Processing
- Mermaid Code: All Mermaid diagram code is processed locally in your browser using client-side JavaScript. No diagram code is sent to our servers.
Google Slides Integration
- Diagram Images: When you insert a diagram, it is converted to an image and inserted directly into your Google Slides presentation. This image is stored in your Google Drive as part of your presentation.
- No External Storage: We do not store your diagrams, code, or presentation data on our servers.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share your information with third parties, except:
- Google: Information necessary for the add-on to function is shared with Google as part of the Google Workspace Add-on platform.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights.
Third-Party Services
Mermade integrates with:
- Google Workspace: For accessing and modifying Google Slides presentations.
- Mermaid.js: For rendering Mermaid diagrams (processed entirely in your browser).
We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.
Security
We implement reasonable security measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children’s Privacy
Mermade is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The product is only available to users of Google Docs and relies upon Google onboarding to filter for age-appropriate users.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: Request information about what data we have (if any).
- Delete: Request deletion of any data we may have.
- Uninstall: Remove Mermade from your Google account at any time through Google Workspace settings.
To exercise these rights, contact us at support@cirsia.com.
